Telemarketers often defend themselves with unintentional self-ridicule.
Here's an example from someone who seems to thrive on deprecation.

i want some help from you idiots. 
PCI:
Hmmm... If you need help from those you consider idiots, then you must be an imbecile.
HERO:
you think that you are supplying the general public with something that you need.
PCI:
Actually, no!  Our role is to enable folks to enjoy their fundamental right to be left alone. 
     (In the future, try writing in a sensible fashion, ex.: "...something that they need.")

HERO:
have you checked out the Bill of Rights lately?
PCI:
Not since last week.  Why, did the telenuisance industry steal the 9th Amendment?
         "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not
           be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people"
Nope!  It's still there. I still have the right to be left alone at home.

HERO:
you are ripping off the consumer with a pipe dream of no telemarketing calls.
PCI:
Our members report a 75% drop in junk calls. Take a look at the testimonials and endorsements.
HERO:
you are full of ca-ca.
PCI:
Your insults are as insightful as your argument. You evidently attended Telemarketing University.
HERO:
i work for a telemarketing firm that has been around longer than most of your top executives.
PCI:
What's been around longer; your telemarketing firm or dysentery?
HERO:
you are so off-base that it is not funny.
PCI:
Our mission is not to make you laugh. It's to stop your junk calls or take your money.
HERO:
also check out the FCC and FTC regulations concerning the federal Do-Not-Call Procedures.
PCI:
We were involved in their creation, and are very familiar with their inadequacies .
HERO:
i am aware that you are selling something that you can not supply,,,,
PCI:
We notify junk callers of our members' unwillingness to be freely called, and advise junk callers that our members charge $500 per call. Our members have collected over $170,000 to date. [Note: as of August 2001, that amount topped a million dollars.] Furthermore, as mentioned above, our members report a 75% drop in junk calls. The fact is, (pursuant to statistics published in telemarketing trade publications) two-thirds of the folks you call don't let you complete your pitch, and you sell less than 2% of those  you call.  If our record was as dismal as yours, we'd close our doors.  As a professional, you are the failure.
HERO:
and will make it my special little hobby to put you out of business.
PCI:
Then, stop making junk calls, because every time you tele-annoy someone,  you promote Private Citizen.
HERO:
