For the past fifteen years, Private Citizen, and its members have fought against the privacy-abusive practices of the direct marketing industry.
Our primary target was telemarketing. In that regard we lobbied Congress and state legislators, testified before the US Senate, the Federal Trade Commission and state legislative bodies. Then, in 2003 the national do-not-call list was created, in large part as a result of our efforts in government and through the media.
Now, we are insisting that the government create a similar do-not-mail list. Private Citizen is America's first, largest and most effective organization of its type to cut your junk mail.
